ALINEA algorithm is adopted to solve the congestion of the merging area of Wuyi onramp with a consideration of the restriction of the queue length by analyzing the the geometric layout and traffic data of the Wuyi onramp.Results show that the speed of the mainline has enhanced and the pulse characteristics of ramp volumes has weakened by offline simulation. So ALINEA algorithm is deemed to be a suitable method for onramp control of Shanghai expressway.
