Abstract:The changing law of Poisson’s ratio of asphalt mixtures was obtained and analyzed by comparing the results of two measuring methods based on indirect tensile test and uniaxial compression test. The test results show that the Poisson’s ratio of hot mix asphalt (HMA) remains stable and can be a constant at low temperature or small load, and becomes the function of temperature and stress at high temperature of large load. The theoretical study also shows that HMA Poisson’s ratio becomes the function of temperature and stress at high temperature of large load, and validates the test results. The Poisson’s ratio of different physical meaning reflects the lateral displacement resistance of asphalt mixture with varied running conditions.
