Abstract:
A study was made of the effect of temperature on municipal wastewater treament in modified expanded granular sludge bed (EGSB).The result shows that the pH of water in the reactor remains to be 6.2~7.6 after stability at lower temperature(7~13 ℃),and 6.0~7.4 at higher temperature(>25 ℃) during starting up.The reactor is easier to start up at higher temperature with higher chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency.The alkalinity of water in the reactor is 400 mg·L-1 during the period of lower temperature,and 600 mg·L-1 in the period of higher temperature.The concentrations of volatile fatty acid(VFA) of outlet (180 mg·L-1) are greater at higher temperature than those at lower temperature(120 mg·L-1).The COD removal efficiency increases from 63.7% to 87.0%with the increasing of temperture in the reactor from an average temperature less than 15 ℃ to 25 ℃ or above.A negative relation is found between the oxidative redox potential (ORP) and the removal efficiency of COD in the reactor.ORP changes from -410 mV to -520 mV when the temperature varies from 7 to 29 ℃.
