Abstract:Based on tension strip model for steel plate shear walls,a model composed of equivalent tension strips and combination compression strips was proposed to simulate the composite steel plate shear wall. In this model, the tension action was represented by a series of inclined tension strips and the compression action was represented by a series of inclined assembled compression strips considering the restraint by concrete slabs. With the help of parametric analysis on the initial defection and stiffness coefficient of the combination compression strips, theoretical formulas were established. Based on the formulas and experiment data, skeleton curves and hysteretic rules for the model were established respectively, and the model was then programmed into the software FORTRAN for its verification it with the test results. Analytical results for one span one storey composite wall specimens agree very well with experiment output, showing that the proposed model for composite steel plate shear walls under cyclic loading is of very high accuracy.
