Abstract:A study was made of the anoxic degradation and removal of nitrogenous heterocyclic compoundquinoline,denitrification of acclimated sludge as well as the effect of pH,C/N ratio,bioferric on degradation of quinoline under anoxic conditions by flaskshaking tests.The microbial degradation products were measured and the degradation pathway of quinoline in anoxic condition was analyzed.The results indicate that quinoline is removed by three steps:biosorption,desorption and biodegradation.The optimal range of pH is between 7 and 9.The C/ N ratio does not affect the reduction of quinoline obviously.Bioferric process cannot improve the degradation of quinoline,quinoline can be used as the sole carbon and nitrogen sources for biodegradation.
