Abstract:An analysis was first made of the shortcomings of traditional linkbased incidence degree model. Then a routebased incidence model was built by taking the factors into consideration such as the intersection distance, the signal phases, route volume distribution and queue at approaches. Finally,a case study was made of the two intersections.A comparative study was made of the performance of traditional linkbased incidence model and the proposed routebased incidence model. The impacts of intersection distance, queues, number of lanes and number of signal phases were analyzed. The results show that the proposed routebased incidence model can descript the real relationship of adjunct intersections and find the key route for signal coordination.
