Abstract:Based on the Hertz contact theory and curve beam theory,an analysis is made of the influence of the circumferential stress of the turntable support hollow wheels on the von Mises stress peak value and location of the wheelrail contact.A further analysis with planer strain finite element shows that the decreasing wheel section height can improve the wheel flexibility, contact normal stress is suppressed and the wheel strength is enhanced. On the other hand, the peak location of von Mises stress may split from central contact area,as a result, the stress circulation is doubled and wheel fatigue strength is affected. As for the wheel shear stress and rail von Mises stress, the variation of wheel section height has little influence on the peak value and location.
