    Abstract:

Incidence degree of adjacent intersections is the key parameter to analyze the traffic condition and design the coordination plan of intersections group. Firstly, the shortcomings of traditional link-based incidence degree model were analyzed. Secondly, a route-based incidence model was built. In the proposed route-based model, not only distance between intersections but also signal phases, route volume distribution and queue at approaches were considered. Finally, a case study, including two intersections is given. The performance of traditional link-based incidence model and proposed route-based incidence model were compared. The impacts of distance between intersections, queues, number of lanes and number of signal phases were analyzed. The results show that the proposed route-based incidence model has the ability to descript the real relationship of adjunct intersections and find the key route for signal coordination.
