Aging of Asphalt from Warm Mix Asphalt Mixture During the Construction Stage

Abstract:

Asphalt is recovered by the methods of extraction and distillation from mixture, and some tests are carried out to determine the performance of the asphalt at different kinds of construction temperatures. From the test results can be seen, at different construction temperatures of asphalt mixture, the aging of asphalt increases with the increase of temperature. From the viscosity-temperature trends, it can be found that the aging of asphalt began to increase sharply if the construction temperature of mixture reaches 150℃. Warm mix asphalt (for example, mixing temperature at 100℃ or 120℃) can greatly reduce the aging of asphalt.
