    Abstract:

    An improved battery thermal model based on coulpled heat transfer(CHT) is established with the Fluent software. All parameters are determined for the nickel metal hydride battery. Then a corresponding test platform is built up to validate the accuracy of the calculated model, and a comparison of the results obtained from the thermal model simulation and the experiment shows that they keep the good consistency with each other. Finally, the quantity proportion of Ni MH battery heat distribution and the variation with SOC are analyzed, the experimental results show that the proportion of Joule heat rapidly increases from 40% to over 70% when charge current increases from 1C to 5C.
