Indexes of Sustainable Urban Transport Based on a Consideration of Residents’ Living Quality

Abstract:

From the perspective of enhancing economic, social and environmental development as well as improving residents’ living quality, the definition of sustainable transportation is illustrated in detail. People oriented and equity indicators are put forward and research on ecological sustainability is extended to land use, energy consumption and environmental preservation. The external costs of traffic congestion, safety, and air pollution are taken into consideration adequately in overall evaluation.
