    Abstract:

This paper proposed a new method to update the finite element model by using hierarchy strategy and evolutionary computation. The design variables were set to two uncoupled sub spaces, i.e. node space and section space, and were optimized by evolutionary computation. As an example, the parametric finite element model of a tower crane was constructed, and updated according to its wind induced vibration results. The results suggest that the proposed method is effective and efficient.
