Abstract:

The traditional method was modified and applied to the assessment of the eutrophication of China lakes.Five indicators such as chlorophyll a (Chl.a),total phosphorus (TP),total nitrogen (TN),chemical oxygen demand (COD),and secchi disk depth (SD) were included,and each one was assigned with a weight.The method was validated by the measured data of 27 lakes in China and also compared with the other assessment methods.The results show that the method is easy to calculate but obtains convincing conclusions.The method is a valuable tool for lake management in China.
