    Abstract:

Changes in traffic flow structure and the increase in traffic volume have created an urgent need for the analysis and exploration of the utilization of throughput capacity of large high-speed railway passenger stations. For high-speed railway stations in China, the adoption of the route-lock-section-release mechanism based on centralized traffic control (CTC) system offers potential for further enhancing the throughput capacity of stations, compared to the conventional route-lock-route-release mechanism. A simulation model for the throughput capacity of stations is established, with station infrastructure layout as the underlying data and train working diagram as the input condition. Based on the CTC performance mechanism, the model first analyzes the operation process of a single train in the station, as well as the interactions between multiple trains to determine the relevant time parameters of trains in the station, calculates the capacity utilization rate of traffic facilities such as switches and tracks, identifies key facilities that limit the capacity, computes and outputs the throughput capacity of stations. The results show that compared with the traditional throughput capacity calculation method, the computer simulation method can simulate the route-lock-section-release mechanism in a more microscopic way. This method can analyze the related factors and calculate the throughput capacity in detail, which is helpful to support the optimization of facility upgrading and station operation plan from the perspective of the overall improvement of the throughput capacity of stations.
