    • A Simplified Model for Composite Steel Plate Shear Walls

      Abstract:Based on tension strip model for steel plate shear walls,a model composed of equivalent tension strips and combination compression strips was proposed to simulate the composite steel plate shear wall. In this model,the tension action was represented by a series of inclined tension strips and the compression action was represented by a series of inclined assembled compression strips considering the restraint by concrete slabs. With the help of parametric analysis on the initial defection and stiffness coefficient of the combination compression strips,theoretical formulas were established. Based on the formulas and experiment data,skeleton curves and hysteretic rules for the model were established respectively,and the model was then programmed into the software FORTRAN for its verification it with the test results. Analytical results for one span one storey composite wall specimens agree very well with experiment output,showing that the proposed model for composite steel plate shear walls under cyclic loading is of very high accuracy.

    • Particle Image Velocimetry Study and Numerical Simulation of Turbulent near Wake of Square Cylinder

      Abstract:The result of the experiment of vortex shedding from a square cylinder is important in comparing the precision of different models including Reynolds averaged Navior Stokes(RANS) models in computational fluid dynamics(CFD). The experiment of vortex shedding from a square cylinder with the Reynolds number of 2.2×104 is done using particle image velocimetry (PIV). A comparison with the results of Laser Doppler Velocimetry(LDV) experiments carried out by other researchers in the same Reynolds number shows that the PIV instruments is effective in obtaining turbulent wake of bodies. Comparisons are also conducted with different RANS models(Realizable k-ε model,k-ω shear stress transport(SST) model and Reynolds stress model) of the coefficients of damping ratio,strouhal number and the velocity profiles and turbulent kinetic energy profiles. It is discovered that the result of the k-ω SST model is much more precise in the aerodynamic parameter identification and flow field simulation mentioned above.

    • Study on Vortex Induced Vibration for Typical Cylinders Using Numerical Method

      Abstract:By virtue of the code for the aeroelastic problems based on the loosely coupled method worked out by the authors,vortex induced vibration (VIV) for typical cylinders,including circular and square cylinders are simulated. Computational results show that there exist two lock in states for the VIV of the two dimensional cylinders:one is streamwise lock in at lower reduced velocity and the other is lateral lock in at higher reduced velocity.With the increase of the reduced velocity,the vortex shedding mode could be changed from out of phase 2S(2single) to in phase 2S,and at the same time,the phase difference between the aerodynamic force and the displacement could be changed from 0 to π,which is the so called phase switch phenomenon.By analyzing the phase switch phenomenon,the mechanism for the limited amplitude of the VIV is studied.

      Abstract:In order to study the structure of complicated metro station seismic response features,combined with the seismic performance analysis of Shanghai Jiangwan metro station on the 10th line,several structural form is simulated by FLAC.The results show that when the cross section form is symmetrical,the aseismatic ability of the metro station can be improved; when not,the aseismatic ability of the structure can be improved too if settlement joint is installed in the section of mutation;for the narrow subway stations,when the structrue is divided into several segments at a certain distance along the longitudinal seam seismic settings,the internal force can be reduced effectively in the metro station under seismic loading forces,and the aseismatic ability of subway station can be improved;the effect of the size of the hole in juncture is remarkable on the pillar in the hole and the continuous wall.

      Abstract:In order to explain macroscopical deformation of saturated soft clay under subway load,the cyclic triaxial test,mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) are conducted and the correlatability between microstructure change and macroscopical deformation of saturated soft is analyzed.The mechanism and tendency of macroscopical deformation of saturated soft clay around tunnel under subway load are obtained,providing basis for predicting the subgrade subsidence due to subway load.

      Abstract:The rheologic properties of the deeply buried dark green silty clay in Shanghai area are depicted with the Burgers Model.Considering the concrete property variation in solidification,the deformation characteristics of concrete are analyzed with the elastic creep theories.The genetic integral equation of the pile’s radial deformation for the reason of the soil pressure around the pile is established.The analytical expression of the time varying horizontal pilesoil interaction force is developed through analyzing the condition of the displacement coordinary at the pilesoil interface.The research shows that the horizontal soil pressure around the pile,which is initially caused by the pouring process,tends to increasing gradually in deeply buried soil,with the ultimate value being earth pressure at rest.Since the cast in place pile’s vertical bearing capacity is directly related with the soil pressure around the pile,the time effect analysis of the soil pressure around filling pile has great significance to the study of the filled pile’s vertical bearing capacity variation mechanism.

      Abstract:A study is made of the difficulty of generating n polygonal element and a generalized polygonal mesh construction method is proposed for generating acceptable polygonal elements by using the conventional triangular mesh.The well developed triangularization algorithm is directly used in the method.It is highly robust,reliable,easy to be implemented and less time consuming.The proposed polygonal meshing algorithm is described in detail and is coded in Standard C++.To demonstrate the validities of constructing element,numerical examples of the patch test and the cantilever beam are discussed.

    • A New Method of Non linear Least Square Estimation of Rheological Parameter for Drilling Fluid

      Abstract:The estimation problem of rheological parameter for drilling fluid usually resorts to the linear regression method to get the solution.As a result, the statistic feature of measurement error becomes different,and the derived rheological parameter estimation tends to be no unbiasedness and with the least variance.A new method of non linear least square estimation is proposed according to the characteristics of three non linear rheological equations.There is no need to give an initial iteration value artificially.The iteration process can converge steadily to a unique minimum point without falling into the minimum point trap.Little storage space is in need but with a rapid convergence.A rheological parameter estimation derived on the basis of the algorithm presents superior statistic features of near unbiasedness of fitting residual error and with almost the least variance.Lots of practical drilling fluid cases validate that the new method is of smaller fitting variance with the similar mean,and a superior statistical feature of fitting residual error over that of linear regression.

      Abstract:The paper presents an analysis of the axisymmetric bending of a functionally graded circular plate under elastically supported boundary condition.The displacement function of the functionally graded circular plate was written as Fourier Bessel series.Based on the basic equations of axisymmetric isotropic functionally graded materials under the assumption that the material property has the exponential dependence on the thickness coordinate,an exact solution of displacements and stresses field was obtained for an elastically supported circular plate subject to axisymmetric normal and shearing loadings on its upper and lower surfaces.With the variation of material graded distributions,the response of the circular plate subjected to axisymmetric loadings on its upper and lower surfaces was studied through a numerical example.The obtained solution demonstrates that the graded material properties have significant effects on the mechanical behavior of the plate.

      Abstract:Cell Transmission Model is used to construct the urban intersection traffic flow model,several traffic performance index calculation methods are mentioned.Cell transmission model(CTM) is embedded in the algorithm to replace the traditional object function,and the(nonedominated sorted genetic algorithmⅡ,NSGAⅡ) is implemented to solve the multiobject optimization problem.Analysis of the algorithm and comparison between CTM plus NSGA II and other signal timing algorithm are made through an example verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

      Abstract:Based on the analysis of spacetime relation of signalized intersections,an integrated model for laneuse assignment and signal phase was established using the traffic flow theory and signal control technology synthetically.In order to solve the model,a program was developed through Visual Basic programming.Actual road intersections were optimized by the program and optimal solutions were generated.Then both the origin plan and the optimal solutions were simulated with VISSIM to verify the model.The simulation results show that there is synergetic effect between dynamic laneuse assignment and signal control.Different from improving laneuse assignment or signal plan alone,synergy cann effectively improve the utilization of spacetime resources at intersections,thus reducing the key traffic state parameters such as delay and queue length.

      Abstract:A threedimensional FEM model was developed to study the cause of flow rutting with the rutting analysis method based on lateral displacement instead of the traditional method based on vertical displacement. The study results show that the rut evaluation method by lateral displacement tendency of asphalt layers can simply and clearly explain the form and cause of flow rutting of asphalt pavement. The surface layer tends to appear plastic flow rutting when the structural module composition for surface and middle layers is not coordinated.

    • Analysis of Major Influencing Factors of Rolling Contact Fatigue Crack Initiation Life of Rails

      Abstract:In order to analyze the stressstrain field characteristics of rails,a threedimensional elasticplastic rail model is established by finite element method.The results show that the stressstrain field of rail at the contact patch is in a threecompressionstress state,with much greater hydrostatic stress.Rail rolling contact fatigue (RCF) crack initiation life is very sensitive to hydrostatic stress. Based on the critical plane approach,a new prediction model is established by taking into the consideration the effects of hydrostatic stress on the rolling contact fatigue crack initiation life.An analysis is made of the effects of wheel load and friction coefficient on the basis of the model. U71Mn rail steel is investigated in detail to validate the proposed approach. The results show that,as the hydrostatic stress increases,the effects of hydrostatic stress on the rolling contact fatigue crack initiation life become greater and as the wheel load and the friction coefficient increase,fatigue life to crack initiation decreases significantly.

    • Study on Kinetics of MicrocystinLR Degradation by Ozonation

      Abstract:A study was made of the degradation of microcystinLR (MCLR) by ozonation and its kinetics.The microcystins were extracted in cyanobacteria blooms from Taihu Lake in Wuxi,China.An investigation was also conducted on the effects of ozone dose,MCLR initial concentration,pH value and some anions.The results indicate that MCLR can be effectively degraded by ozonation and the reaction fits well with the firstorder kinetics.The rate constant is invariable with different MCLR initial concentrations.However,when the dosage of ozone changes from 0.31 mg·L-1 to 1.35 mg·L-1,the rate constant increases from 0.010 3 min-1 to 0.040 7 min-1.The rate constant decreases from 0.252 8 min-1 to 0.009 9 min-1 with pH value from 3.08 to 10.08.Under acidic condition,the degradation of MCLR is more sensitive to pH value.NO3 - has positive effect on the degradation of MC-LR while CO3 2- has negative effect on it,and the effects of SO4 2- and Cl- on it are not obvious.According to their effects on the degradation rate,the four anions can be arranged as NO-3,Cl-,SO2-4,CO2-3.

      Abstract:The parameters,such as reaction time,pH value,UV light intensity,temperature and initial concentration are investigated on the degradation of MCRR by ultraviolet(UV) radiation in micropolluted water,respectively.The results show that the degradation rate of MCRR is improved with the reaction time and higher UV intensity.The initial pH acted as a key factor to the degradation rate of MCRR.The neutral and weak acidic solutions were more appropriate to the degradation of MCRR,and the optimal pH value was 5 in this study.The strong acidic and alkaline solutions were inhibitory to the degradation of MC-RR.The relationship between degradation rate and temperature was linear.MCRR was removed quickly in the lower concentration solution,and the processes conform to secondorder kinetics model.At the UV light intensity 153 μW·cm-2,the MCRR concentration decreased from 251.778 3 μg·L-1 to 0.801 2 μg·L-1within 160 min at pH 7.0 and 10 ℃,and the degradation rate was 99.68%.

      Abstract:Effects of PVCpipe thickness and coreconcrete strength on mechanical properties of the PVCpipe concrete (PPC)including compressive strength,stressstrain (σ-ε) curve and strain energy were investigated.The results prove that PPC overcomes the shortcomings of the normal concrete such as high brittleness and bad ductility,and its strain energy can be enhanced by about 9.3~25.0 times.Compressive strength of PPC increases with the increase in the coreconcrete strength and pipe thickness,but its strengthened coefficient S decreases with the increase in the coreconcrete strength.The slope of the σ-ε curve is mainly determined by PVCpipe thickness,and the coreconcrete strength merely affects the ultimate strength of PPC.

      Abstract:The paper presents a study of the hydration and hardening process of anhydrite binder,the activating mechanism of sulfate salt typed activator,and the modifying effects of anhydrite with slag through the determination of hydration rate,temperaturerising and ion concentration in liquid phase of anhydrite in combination with the macroperformance measurements.The addition of sulfate salt promotes the solution of anhydrite,increases ion concentration and supersaturation degree in liquid phase,and accelerates the gypsum crystal nucleation and growth.The hydration of slag forms water rigid minerals such as ettringite and hydrated calcium silicate,and the strength and waterresistance of the anhydrite binder material are accordingly increased.Anhydrite hinder material activated by sulfate salt and modified with slag is characterized by higher strength,good water resistance and low shrinkage rate.The hydration and hardening experience five stages such as rapid dissolution,latency period,hydration accelerated period,domain hydration period and slow hydration period.The setting time of binder material depends on latency period,and the densification and strength development of the hardened anhydrite paste are mainly concentrated at the stage of hydration accelerated period and stable hydration period.

      Abstract:A magnesium substitution design for an automotive seat back rest is carried out.With the magnesium extrusion profiles and the stamping panel integrated,the weight of the seat back rest is reduced by 41.3% and the lightweight goal is achieved.Numerical calculations in comparison with the original structure and the substitution design are performed with finite element software,which ensures that the performance indicators such as the mode,the strength and the stiffness defined by related regulatory requirements are all realized.

      Abstract:Based on shell finite element theory and autobody design standards,numerical material lightweight simulation of autobody cover panel is presented by using high strength baked hardening steel on engine hood.Bending stiffness and torsion stiffness analysis model on structural simulation is constructed.By replacing the traditional carbon steel ST14 with high strength steel BH340,the weight of engine hood panel can be reduced by 14.28% while the requirement of autobody stiffness design standard is satisfied.BH340 is recommanded for engine hood as new lightweight material.

      Abstract:The functionality of vehicle system controller for a powersplit powertrain hybrid electric vehicle is described and a finite graph is given to represent the transition relations between the different vehicle driving modes in this paper.In order to speed up the calculation,an innovative and simplified dynamic programming method is proposed to reduce the calculation grids caused by the discretization.The calculation results from the dynamic programming are analyzed and used to obtain the transition rules among different vehicle driving modes for a powersplit powertrian hybrid electric vehicle.

      Abstract:To explain the principium of electric invalidation for redesigning of the electronic connector,the CellularAutomata model based on the theory of selforganizing method was proposed. The model consisted of oxidation local rules,cells displacement local rules,resistance calculate local rules. The selforganizing rules drived the model to perform the evolvement of the electric invalidation of electronic connectors by time. The evolvement shows a high correlation to the experiment data. The estimate work shows that selforganizing method is effctual and flexibal in studying complex dynamic problems such as electric invalidation of electoric connectors.

      Abstract:According to the operating characteristics of the inusing buses,a study is made of the power,the fuel economic performance and the emissions characteristics of the numodified heavyduty bus diesel engine fueled with pure gastoliquids (GTL) or diesel 0#.The results show that compared with diesel 0#,the power and torque of GTLfueled engine decrease by 10% on average,fuel consumption decreases by 3%,the emission of CO,NOx,PM and CO2 reduces by 9%,14%,25% and 4% respectively,but the HC emission remains unchanged.GTL is a promising alternative fuel for diesel engine.

      Abstract:This paper presents an overview of a new hydraulic winch testbed applicable to testing the performances and lifespan of varied hydraulic winches produced by different companies and new energy recycling technology is used in it.Energy waste is avoided due to longtime testing and energy recycle realized. The obverse condition and reverse condition are explained and mathematical models of this system is established.Also,an analysis is made of the rope pull,the setting pressure of the relief valve 6 and the influnce of the speed of main drum influencing on power saving rate.Finally the AMESim software is used to build a mold to analyze the power saving rate.

      Abstract:The performance of the flowing and heat transfer with airflow over the three symmetrical bigholes fins tube are studied by the numerical simulation in comparison with the plane fines.The distributions of the velocity,temperature and Nu(Nuselt number) on the surfaces of the plane fins and the three symmetrical bigholes fins at different Re numbers are obtained.The maximal error between the modeling result and experiment bats of the plane fins is less than 10%,which verifies the simulation method.The simulation results prove that when the air flow Re number changes from 1 610 to 6 440,the surface heat transfer of the three symmetrical bigholes fin is higher by over 25 percent in comparison with the plane fin.This kind of fin is applicable to the fintube cooling heat exchanger and the effect of heat transfer is perfect.

      Abstract:An investigation is carried out on the applicability of several main generalized sensor models for QuickBird high resolution satellite imagery.The timevariant parallel perspective model was proposed and proved to be the most suitable model to describe the imaging geometry of the QuickBird imagery. Stereo positioning experiments and accuracy analysis were then made by using the QuickBird stereo image pair in Shanghai district based on the proposed model. The results show that stereo positioning accuracy of the timevariant parallel perspective model is very close to that of the biascompensated rational function model,and the planimetric positioning accuracy reaches subpixel level.

      Abstract:According to the requirements of the parametric 3D modeling system of the bridge,a new algorithm was developed to quickly generate a virtual terrain.The details of terrain were enriched by a fractal theory.In order to accelerate retrieval of the triangle containing the given point,a quadtree data structure was used to store triangulated irregular network.The triangle retrieved was subdivided by sparse control points to join bridge models and terrain.The viewpoint range was controlled by a quickly collision detection method between the viewpoint and the terrain.Sky sphere,terrain and bridge models were organized together based on the tree structure.Finally,a lifelike scene of bridge was generated.

    • Solution of GeoPositioning and Its Accuracy Analysis in QuickBird Imagery Based on Auxiliary Ground Control Points

      Abstract:Based on collected QuickBird imagery in Shanghai region,the iterative leastsquares solution with regularization(ILSR) are derived to determine the rational polynomial coefficients(RPCs) by using 50 fair distributed ground control points(GCPs)firstly.Two methods are then used to refine determined RPCs under different circumstance as:① when both the original and the additional GCPs are available,the RPCs wll be recomputed using the batch iterative leastsquares solution with regularization (BILSR) method; and ② when only the new GCPs are available,incremental discrete Kalman filtering (IDKF) method is then described.Meanwhile,schemes are scheduled with check points to evaluate their geopositioning accuracy.It is obtained that auxiliary points are necessary to refine the RPC because of their higher position accuracy rather than the amount used.A conclusion is then achieved as a reference when the high resolution imagery is processed in metropolitan area.
