      2011, 39(9):1253-1257. DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.0253-374x.2011.09.001

      Abstract (1020) HTML (13) PDF 1.15 M (1294) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:An analysis was made of the correlative limitation of traditional stiffness method.Based on the finite element flexibility method theory,a new calculation method for the equivalent nodal load of the damaged beam element was proposed by introducing the sectional secant-flexibility,which was compatible with conventional nonlinear structural-analysis because an iteration was not required.A static and nonlinear overall-analysis was also made for a renforced concrete frame structure with a self-development software.A case study shows that by taking the structural damage into consideration, nonlinear structural-analysis improves in terms of its efficiency, convergence and stability with the equivalent nodal load method.

      Abstract (933) HTML (44) PDF 2.47 M (805) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:The dynamic instability of light-weight steel structures with portal frames under coupled wind and snow loads is studied by numerical simulation and wind tunnel tests.Coupled action between wind and snow is simulated by computational fluid dynamics(CFD)method and the unsteady aerodynamic forces on the structure are obtained by wind tunnel test. Then, the structure is studied as a spatial portal frame on its dynamic instability by the Budiansky-Roth criterion. The results show that simulated snow-drifting on the roof is consistent with the movement rule of airflow near the roof.Non-uniform snow distribution can decrease the dynamic stability of the structure simultaneously under wind actions.

      2011, 39(9):1273-1279. DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.0253-374x.2011.09.004

      Abstract (908) HTML (14) PDF 1.43 M (1160) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:A ten-story frame structure is designed for shaking table model test and the influence of different input mechanisms on the seismic responses of the structure are discussed. Based on the free-field tests and soil-structure interaction tests, three waves are selected and used as shaking table model test inputs. They are records used in the former tests, the soil’s surface records obtained from the free-field tests and the foundation response of soil-structure interaction tests respectively.A comparative study is made of the results with those obtained from soil-structure interaction system and a discussion is held on the reasonableness of the different input mechanisms. The test results show that if the bedrock wave is used as input without considering the soil factor, the maximum error may occur;when free field waves are used as input, the error may reduce; if the time history record at the foundation in the soil-structure system test is used as input, the structure response will be much colser to the soil-structure interaction system, but sometimes the structural response may be underestimated.

      2011, 39(9):1280-1285. DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.0253-374x.2011.09.005

      Abstract (818) HTML (29) PDF 1.39 M (872) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:Totally 60 specimens of panel-to-stud nail connections were designed and manufactured.Tests of the specimens both under monotonic loading and cyclic loading were conducted.Except for a few specimens that failed due to rupture of the structural panel, most nail connections failed following yield mode M-c1,which was consistent with Eurocode 5-Design of timber structures. The angle between the panel orientation and the grain of dimension lumber affects the performance of nail connections to some extent, while with the increasing of the conditioning time, the effect decreases and eventually become negligible. The load-carrying capacity and stiffness of nail connections decrease with the conditioning time. The load-carrying capacity of the nail connections increases slightly under cyclic loading, whilst the stiffness decreases, and both of them tend to be stable after a number of cycles of loading.A formula to evaluate the stiffness of the nail connections considering the stiffness degeneration is obtained from statistics of the experimental results.

      2011, 39(9):1297-1302. DOI: 10.3969/j.issn.0253-374x.2011.09.008

      Abstract (949) HTML (10) PDF 932.92 K (1288) Comment (0) Favorites

Abstract:polynomial distributed lags (PDL) model is proposed for short-term traffic forecasting, the key idea of which is that the time series of traffic condition are affected not only by the own lagged terms, but also by other factors relevant to the traffic condition. The PDL model also assumes that the effects of other factors are distributed to a number of terms.Comparison with the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model shows that with the same prediction accuracy as the ARIMA model, the PDL model is more portable and easier but less complicated to implement. This research result provides a new research idea for the short-term traffic flow forecasting theory.
